Blue Line Metro is the busiest and most used metro line which connects some important cities in the route. The route covered by this metro line is Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City. The Delhi route reaches connects with the city of Uttar Pradesh.

The interchangeable station at the Blue Line Metro route is the Yamuna Bank. The Yamuna bank connects further with Vaishali where you can interchange for the city of Ghaziabad. The Blue Line Metro system was inaugurated in December 2005. This Blue Line Metro is considered the second longest route after the Pink Line Metro.

There are a total of 57 metro stations on the route divided into two main lines of the Blue Line Metro. The two key routes of Blue Line Metro are:

  • First Route or Line 3: Sector-21 Dwarka to Noida Electronic City – A total of 50 stations on the route and covers a stretch of 57 km.
  • Second Route or Line 4: Yamuna Bank to Vaishali, Ghaziabad – A total of 7 stations on the route and covers a stretch of 9 km.

Blue Line Metro Extension Plan

A project has been proposed for the extension of the Blue Line Metro. The extension is planned from Noida Electronic City to Sahibabad. This extension plan was proposed five years back submitted to the DMRC and revised in January 2024.

There will be five stations added from Noida Electronic City to Sahibabad.

The last station of the extension Sahibabad is being planned to connect with the Rapid Rail transit station. The project aims to build a multi-channel connectivity to provide comfort to the commuters. The Sahibabad metro station would be situated on one side while the station for the Rapid Rail Transit Corridor on the other side. The two stations would be connected with the help of a foot-over bridge. This would make it easier for the travellers to change the trains from Blue Line Metro to the RRT corridor without doing a formal exit from either of the stations.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be about Rupees 1,873 crore.

Some Important Facts about the Blue Line Metro Extension from Noida to Sahibabad

Some facts regarding this upcoming project are:

  • 80% of the total project cost would be bear by the state government
  • 15.3% of the cost of the project would be shared by the Central Government
  • The remaining cost of the project would be compensated from the taxes earned by the state government
  • The land required for the building of this route is around 7,690 square metres which costs around rupees 233 crore.
  • The new project report focuses on the multiple modes of functioning of the Blue Line Metro Extension from Noida to Sahibabad for the convenience of people.
  • The interchange hub of multiple platforms for the Blue Line Metro extension and Rapid Rail Transit System is also in the pipeline for construction.

Timings of the Blue Line Metro

The timing of the first metro of the Blue Line route begins at 5.30 PM and the last one at 11.30 PM in the night. The arrival of the trains varies from station to station, and timings may vary at regular and peak hours of commutation.

The fares of the metro line vary according to the distance travelled and differ on national holidays, weekdays, and weekends.

Basic Information about the Blue Line Metro

There are eight coaches on this train with a speed limit of 100km/h. The gauge of the train is around 5 feet 6 inches or 1,676 mm. The electrification of the metro line is through an overhead wire with 25kV, 50Hz alternating current.
