Noida-Greater Noida expressway is an interstate freeway connecting two states, Noida and Greater Noida. It is a 24.53 km long stretch, which helps in reducing the travel time. This project has cost around 400 crore.
The expressway is a six-lane state highway connecting the two townships. It was inaugurated in the year 2002. This highway serves as the second best route for the old Delhi to Agra road (NH-2) which was congested and with traffic woes. This connects the cities like Faridabad, Palwal, and Ballabhgarh.

There are different intercity connections of this expressway: It starts from the flood embankment area called the bundh near to the Noida Sector 94 which is near to the Okhla bird sanctuary to the Noida Sector 168. The Noida-Greater Noida expressway touches Noida Sector 94 and goes to Sector 160 which covers the area Gulavali. An important interchange occurs at the Gulavali-LG Chowk road with the ending point Noida Sector 168. This touches the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway.
Expansion of Noida Expressway
The expansion of the Noida-Greater Noida is planned for the following places:
- Jewar Airport or the Noida International Airport
- Aviation Hub
- Taj Economic Zone
This expressway is owned by the Noida Authority and the development is under the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).
A New Route Update on Noida-Greater Expressway
There will be a construction of a long elevated road planned which will be 35 km long and would connect to the Noida-Greater Noida expressway. It would begin from the Kalindi Kunj barrage and the ending point would be near about Sector 150 in Noida.
This stretch will help ease the traffic running along the Yamuna River. This will help reach out to the Jewar International Airport early. Another road would be built of around 5.96 km long which will connect Mayur Vihar, Delhi to the Mahamaya flyover, Noida.
Sector 152 Noida would also connect to this route and would continue from the Yamuna expressway to Pari Chowk, Greater Noida. This would finally connect with Noida International Airport.
Dos and Don’ts of the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway
There are some restrictions imposed on this expressway route by Anil Kumar Yadav, DCP Traffic Police.
- The passages of the heavy vehicles are allowed after 7 AM to 10 PM as of 7 April 2023.
- There is deployment of the traffic police on this route. Any violators of the rules are liable to be penalized.
- Heavy vehicles are permitted to use the service lines of the expressway.
- Transportation of some key services like fuel, milk, fruits, vegetables, and medicines are excluded from the imposed restrictions.
- The latest speed limit allowed on the highway is 100kmph from 70 to 80 km per hour.
- The speed limit for heavy vehicles like trucks was decreased to 60 km per hour.
- The two-wheeler vehicles are only permitted with helmets on this expressway.
- Autos, Cycles, and Electronic rickshaws are not permitted on this expressway.
An initiative of the resurfacing of the Noida expressway is also being planned. The initiative was proposed by the CEO of Noida Authority, Ritu Maheshwari and the cost is estimated to be around 62 crore.
